Foundation of Trauma Therapy: An Introduction to the Gold Standard – Prolonged Exposure for PTSD

This introductory workshop is for mental health professionals interested in learning more about one of the most evidence-based models for the treatment of PTSD, Prolonged Exposure (PE). PE is considered a “gold standard” treatment for PTSD as recommended by the National Center for PTSD, the American Psychological Association (APA), and the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS). With its basis in behaviorism, this short-term approach to treating PTSD follows an exposure based model including techniques such as imaginal and in vivo exposures. In this workshop, you will learn about how to determine readiness for PE, see demonstrations of the core techniques, and discuss common challenges to PE’s implementation.

Risk Assessment Mastery: A Workshop for Mental Health Professionals on Suicide and Self-Harm

This workshop will provide an overview of evidence-based practices for suicide risk assessment. Dr. Kiki Fehling will review key terms in suicidality, research on suicide’s risk factors, and practices to consider for intervention and documentation. An Introduction to Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

What We Seek in Our Instructors

We are in search of dynamic presenters who embody qualities such as passion, experience, ethics, diversity, and the ability to engage and captivate learners.

Our goal is to create courses that deeply resonate with AFFIRM learners and offer practical clinical insights for therapists.

To be considered as a presenter, here are some key criteria:

1. Teaching Experience: Presenters should have a track record of facilitating formal Continuing Education trainings. We require a minimum of 2 years of teaching experience to ensure our courses maintain a high standard of quality.

2. Expertise: Presenters/interviewees should possess a post-master's level of expertise in their chosen topic. It is generally expected that presenters are licensed professionals in their respective fields, whether it be medicine, psychology, or another related area.

3. Content Quality: All courses must meet the approval requirements of Continuing Education organizations. This entails offering evidence-based content that reflects the latest scientific knowledge and emerging practice strategies and methods.

4. Course Proposal: As part of the interview/presentation process, all presenters/guests will be required to submit a Continuing Education outline/syllabus. This should include a detailed course description, clear learning objectives, and any other relevant information.
