Persistent Trauma and the Promise of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Tools for Healing and Thriving
In this Intermediate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) training, participants will be introduced to an ACT for Trauma protocol designed to address the unique needs of communities facing persistent interpersonal and systemic trauma (i.e., racism, poverty). Participants learn trauma focused skills grounded in the ACT model of psychological flexibility: Open (willingness & defusion), Aware (mindfulness and perspective taking), Engaged (values clarification & values based committed action). Through guided practice, participants will apply modified ACT skills that 1) enhance present-moment awareness and personal empowerment through Polyvagal practices, and 2) address systemic trauma by deepening awareness of generational trauma, identify sources of generational healing and wisdom, and explore valued actions at both the interpersonal and community levels. The course will introduce the 6F’s as a structured way to engage with parts and offer an overview of the steps toward unburdening and integration. Ethical Personal Branding for Therapists
This 3-hour workshop provides a comprehensive and practical framework for navigating boundaries in digital and public-facing spaces as a licensed mental health professional. As therapists increasingly appear on social media, podcasts, and other online platforms, new ethical dilemmas emerge around visibility, self-disclosure, confidentiality, scope of practice, and how clinicians represent themselves professionally. Grounded in ASWB, NBCC, APA, and NYSED standards, this course helps clinicians understand how to ethically share educational content, maintain clear role boundaries, protect client confidentiality, and make thoughtful decisions regarding personal branding. Participants will explore the distinctions between ethical self-disclosure, boundary-aligned digital presence, and boundary-violating content. The workshop emphasizes risk-mitigation strategies, trauma-informed considerations, values-driven professional identity, and practical tools such as SOPs, disclaimers, and scripts for navigating online engagement. Through applied examples, case analysis, and interactive reflection, attendees will leave with concrete strategies to show up ethically and confidently in digital spaces while safeguarding clinical boundaries. Meets NYSED 3-CEU Boundaries Requirements for Social Workers and Psychologists.
